1969 ALFA ROMEO 1750 GTV for sale

Price: $97,995
Classic Car Market is delighted to offer for sale this stunning and rare Alfa Romeo Series 1 1750 GTV.
The Alfa Romeo Historico Certificate on file confirms this example was built in January 1969 and delivered new to Alec Mildren in NSW, in its very rare factory colour of Blu Chiaro Metallizzato - AR 337. This car never fails to attract admiring glances and comment wherever it goes, particularly in relation to the paintwork which has an exquisitely fine metallic effect that really sparkles in the sunlight.
As part of a significant private collection in NSW, this outstanding example is now offered for sale due to lack of use and presents a wonderful opportunity for the next owner to enjoy the car at a fraction of the initial investment.
The current owner has invested a huge amount of time and money to bring the car to its current condition, including a comprehensive body and mechanical restoration, with virtually zero use since.
The original shell was stripped and, being an Australian-delivered car when new, was found to be in remarkably good order. The little compromised metal that was found was professionally replaced or repaired prior to finishing and painting. The panel gaps are excellent, and the underside of the car presents as well as the topside.
Turn the key and the engine fires up instantly with that familiar Alfa growl. Out on the open road this car drives superbly. The correct 1750 engine, which was stripped-down and rebuilt, is eager and willing and the gearbox is a delight and, as you would expect of a car thats been subject to so much attention, there are no issues with the cars gearchange, throttle response, handling, steering or braking. All are simply spot on!
Inside the cabin feels light and airy and is a lovely place to be. James May once said that sitting in an Alfa Romeo is like sitting in a bar in Milan, such is the sheer Italian-ness of an Alfa interior. The dashboard and upholstery are all in very fine order and attractive to the eye. Everything works as it should. The unique and desirable flying buttress seats are a real feature of these Series 1 GTVs, and they present beautifully in this car, having been professionally recovered using original fabrics. They are also incredibly comfortable and supportive.
New carpets have been fitted throughout and the headlining has been replaced with the correct type.
Its quite refreshing to see the factory-original steel wheels still on this car. They have been sympathetically restored and fitted with brand new tyres and the original Alfa hub caps.
Overall, this presents as a spectacular Series 1 1750 GTV in an unusually rare factory colour, having had significant investment made to restore it to as close to factory specification as possible, both mechanically and cosmetically. A substantial invoice file - which includes a substantial amount spent with internationally renowned Alfa Romeo parts supplier in the UK, Classic Alfa - accompanies the car along with photographs of the various stages of restoration. This stunning car would be the ideal purchase for someone wanting to avoid the pain and cost of undertaking a restoration - all the difficult time-consuming work has been done for you - all you need to do is get in and drive!
All in all, this car is a stunning example of a rare and desirable Alfa Romeo and is sure to give the new owner many years of enjoyable motoring, well below the investment made.
Note, the owner may consider a part-exchange with an interesting European or Japanese car such as a BMW 1600/2002, Porsche 944/968/911, Mk1 Ford Escort, early Toyota Celica or similar.
