1948 BENTLEY MK6 for sale
Price: $39,995
The Bentley Mark VI was produced from 1946 until 1952 and was the first car made by Bentley after the war. For the marque it was a successful four-door sports saloon and were expensive cars in their day.
Powered by a 4.1/4 litre six-cylinder engine (also used in the Rolls Royce) it had ample power and provided effortless luxury motoring.
Our car chassis B207CD
The current owner purchased the Bentley around 5 years ago from David Ekberg the Rolls Royce and Bentley Specialist. The owner required the car for use at a wedding venue where it has been used during ownership. For use as a wedding car, it has required annual inspections and as a result the car is in excellent mechanical order. The car has also benefited from the installation of air conditioning which works particularly well. The cost of this alone was around $5,000. In addition, the owner has spent some $9,000 on other
ongoing maintenance including the replacement of engine mounts and the radiator. The car has been maintained by Steve Sparks at NBS Services who are the go to specialists in Queensland for Rolls Royce and Bentley cars.
All maintenance records are available for viewing.
The interior of the car is, as you would expect, a lovely place to be. The cream leather upholstery is in generally good order without any splits. The drivers side door card does show some wear due to the movement of the window lever. The carpets are in fine condition as is the roof lining. The timber presents well throughout and is a real feature with these cars. The steering wheel has lost some of its covering, but it does not detract from the overall presence of the interior, and it is certainly a special experience being inside one of these cars.
Externally the paint was given a paint correction treatment and has a fine shine and depth of colour. Due to age, there are blemishes in the paint and evidence of a couple of areas showing minor bubbles due to corrosion, but none appear significant and could be addressed quite simply. Underneath the car presents well and is very solid.
Out on the open road the car behaves as it should and is a pleasure to drive. The air conditioning makes a world of difference and means this car can be driven more often, in comfort and regardless of hot weather. Indeed, our test drive was conducted on a day with 30-degree temperatures, and it was quite a revelation being in a classic car without suffering from the discomfort of heat.
Overall, this is a very good example of a Mark VI Bentley which has been well maintained and with the desirable addition of air conditioning. It would continue to make a perfect wedding car and a desirable and usable example of the marque.
